Valley Arts Youth Theatre Summer Camp – “A Play in a Week”

Monday 8 August – Friday 12 August 2022

10am- 4pm 

Chew Magna Baptist Church Hall

£125 per child for the whole week

A week-long summer camp for 8-12 yr olds, led by professional Director and Playwright Toby Hulse (Roustabout Theatre) and Valley Arts’ own Laura Davies.  The week will be spent developing core performing arts skills, building confidence, and making friends; all in a super fun workshop setting.  

Under the guidance of professionals, participants will learn about the creative processes involved in making a piece of theatre, including storytelling, scripts, acting and devising.  At the end of the week, the families of those taking part are invited to come and watch their final performance.

If you are aged 8-12 (Current school years 3-8) and would be interested in taking part, please complete our online application form as soon as possible and before 1 July.  Please note that this does not guarantee you a place.  If successful you will be contacted and offered a place after 1 July.

Toby Hulse

Is a playwright and director who specializes in making theatre for family audiences and in educational contexts. He is a regular Guest Tutor at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, teaching Improvisation, Clowning and Children’s Theatre.

Laura Davies

Is an actor and workshop leader who has worked with various Theatre in Education companies over the years, touring to schools across the UK and Italy.  Laura has been working closely with Valley Arts for the last 5 years, devising and delivering shows and drama workshops for our younger audiences in the Chew Valley.
