Pride and Prejudice – Illyria
Tuesday 29th August 2023 – 7pm
Illyria’s production of Jane Austen’s glorious social comedy attracted sell-out audiences for a total of six years. It toured throughout the UK and Europe, attracted nationwide critical acclaim.
In a whirlwind of balls, dinners and very eligible officers, Lizzy Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy stand alone as the only sane, thoughtful people – and they hate each other! Or do they? Can she see beyond his pride, and can he overcome her prejudice, in order to achieve happiness?
If your idea of Jane Austen is stuffy costume drama then this sparkling adaptation may make you change your mind. Bring a picnic and have a ball as the irrepressible Illyria sharpen their claws to bring you Jane Austen at her vibrant, bitchy best!

Notes on the performance
This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on, and dress for the weather! In the case of inclement weather the show will still go on. No umbrellas please, they block sight lines for other audience members.
Doors open at 6pm and Yeo Valley have kindly offered for ticket holders to wander around the fabulous organic garden before the show starts at 7pm.
You are welcome to bring a picnic, but we are running a bar, so we ask that you buy all your drinks from us; the profits go towards the cost of the event and allows us to continue bringing these fabulous events to the Chew Valley. Please make sure you take all your rubbish home with you.
