Commotion in the Ocean from Somerset’s Wassail Theatre

Saturday 24th November 2018

11.00am

A Commotion in the Ocean – a new play for family audiences that explores plastic pollution and how to make a difference.

Demeter (Goddess of Harvest & Agriculture) is having a bad day. All she wants is some peace and quiet, but there is too much noise, distraction and plastic! Her good friend Poseidon (God of the Sea, Earthquakes and Horses) means well, but he isn’t helping. To distract Poseidon, Demeter decides to send him on a quest. He comes back with more than she bargained for, but it might just help save the planet.A Commotion in the Ocean helps families connect to the controversial and topical subject of plastic pollution. At a time when the world’s seas are becoming full of plastic, the impact of which is having a considerable and detrimental affect on nature, it is essential we give our young people the opportunity to consider how to make a change, early on in their lives.

The show is a reimagining of the story of Poseidon and Demeter. It has been created by award-winning international storyteller Sarah Mooney and produced in association with Somerset’s flagship theatre company, Wassail.

Suitable for anyone over the age of 5 who is concerned about the future of our planet.
