An illustrated talk by one of the authors of ‘Orchard: A Year in England’s Eden’.
Nick Gates is an award-winning Author, filmmaker, public speaker and naturalist. He is passionate about landscapes shared between people and nature and works to champion examples where these exist harmoniously. Nick is also a strong proponent of embedding nature throughout the national curriculum, so that the next generation have a thorough understanding of the vital role that nature plays in all our daily lives.

As an author, Nick spent more than seven years studying a nature-friendly orchard in Herefordshire with his fellow naturalist friend Benedict Macdonald, ultimately resulting in the publication of their book Orchard, A Year in England’s Eden.
As a filmmaker, Nick was one of the lead producer directors on the BBC1 series Wild Isles presented by Sir David Attenborough. He also directed the Hungry for Change film as part of the #SaveOurWildIsles campaign, which can be found on the campaign website.
